Hamilton driver second in NT title
HAMILTON speedway driver Donald Irving made the long trip to Alice
Springs recently to contest the Northern Territory Street Stock Title.
He was rewarded for his efforts with second place in the gruelling 40
lap “A’ Main.
A total of 15 drivers contested the event, which included the current
Australian title holder, Robbie Faux, as well as two other former Aus-
tralian title holders ... Brad McLure, from Victoria, and Anthony Beare,
who was also the the defending NT Street Stock title holder.
From all reports it was a willing affair.
South Australian Beare claimed the title win ... his seventh title in an
unbroken sequence ... with Hamilton’s Irving in second spot, and NT
driver Justin Brumfield third place.
Victorians, Faux (fourth) and Brad McLure (fifth) rounded out the top
Irving was ecstatic with his placing, as he had not had the best of runs
during the heats and had to work hard to get to the front.
The street stock class will be making a welcome return to the Western
Speedway calendar this year, with several events programmed prior to
the Victorian Title which will be held at the track in late April.
PAIRS CHAMPIONS: The Grangeburn Bowling Club men’s championship pairs final was won by the combination of Ken Prewett and skipper Paul Symmons. They will now go on to represent their
club in the divisional finals. Photo: SUPPLIED
